Jimmy Gownley began writing and drawing comics at age 15. In 2001 Amelia Rules! hit the stands, amid a flurry of rave reviews.
Gownley is an advocate for kids’ comics, having co-founded the organization Kids Love Comics which works to promote comic books and graphic novels as a valuable tool for literacy and education in schools, libraries, and at home.
Gownley has been interviewed on Radio Disney New York and Radio Disney Philadelphia as part of promoting the Kids Love Comics cause. He also gives dynamic presentations to kids at schools, libraries, and community events to help spur an interest in art, writing, and thinking creatively.
The 36-year-old cartoonist lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with his wife Karen and their twin daughters, Stella and Anna.
